How to Play Street Soccer

Three Methods:

No 100 meter (328.1 ft) long pitch of grass? No problem! Street football(soccer) is the sport for you! If you see a parking lot and think of soccer then read this.

Prepare the Yourself and the Team

  1. Assemble the gear. You may require a pair of Sambas to play well. It will also protect you from injuries.
    • You may opt to buy professional jerseys (Manchester United, AC Milan, Chelsea, Liverpool, FC Barcelona) so people take you seriously.
  2. Find a group of friends to play with.
    • Make sure your closest circle of friends are devoted callejeros, or at least have the potential to become one. It is possible, yet rare, to encourage your closest non-calle friends to get interested in it over time, but it is very important that you have a consistent group that is loyal to attend pick-up matches at all times.

In an Area with Walls

  1. Prepare to play in a walled setup.Get your friends together and gather onto the local basketball, tennis, or outdoor hockey court (it's important that all courts include walls).
  2. Set the goals. In a tennis court or parking lot create goals by placing two objects a reasonable distance apart (obviously). But on a basketball court use the poles as goals, this will help increase accuracy, concentration, and overall skill level. Using this method of scoring on a basketball court is a unique form of calle in itself; it's called "pole." In a hockey court, goals are already provided.

In an Area without Walls

  1. Find a parking lot, street corner or anywhere in the streets of the city to play street football safely.
  2. Player count. In calle, you don't need as many players on the court as when your playing field: 6 v 6 is always a reasonable number.
  3. Split the teams and decide a captain for each team.4 a-side is recommended.
  4. Goalie.No keeper necessary.
  5. Draw the boundaries with a chalk.Mark the penalty area with a semi circle and have a line down the middle to divide the teams.
  6. Set up the goals.
  7. Decide on your rules. The most common are no offsides and no kicking above head height.
  8. If there is an odd number of players, take turns being the referee.
  9. Respect the other team and never put anyone down.Stick to the fair play code of FIFA.
  10. Once you get more players, set up more teams and start a league or even a tournament. You may play in a street corner near the park so others can watch you play.
  11. Last but not least, have fun!Enjoy the game and thank your audience for watching after the game.

There is no specific way to do it perfectly. With enough practice and effort, you will be able to easily juggle the ball using various body movements, but you have to find what works for you.

  • Have your own set of tricks to get past other players with style. In street soccer it is very important to have tricks because you don't have the space to get past players like on field soccer.
  • Work on moves, dribbling, and scoring. Footwork, quickness, and agility are useful and encouraged; playing street will make you better at handling the ball at your feet with confidence. This isn't the time for long and powerful shots, or football-player aggressiveness, that will get you nowhere. Focus on finesse and playing smart.
  • Own a calle ball. It has no logos and is down to its bare stitching because it's been used for years on the street. It will most likely be white with gray outlining the pentagons.
  • Some tricks you can use in street soccer are:Akka-Rainbow(in good occasions) -Ball Roll-Heel to heel flick-Double touch exit-Ball roll fake(Edward van Gils and Sean Garnier use these a lot) -Elastico Chop.

  • Highly addictive. You will not be able to stop playing until its been 4 hours and you feel like you're going to die. And at that point, your friends will make you get off the court because they noticed your new obsession and are worried about you.
  • Some players want to make a panna every time and then they lose the ball. It is nice to make one but don't try to do it too much. Just get past them with tricks and you'll be alright.
